Last week I noticed a new design for Google Search Index, today I heard that Wikipedia is also getting a new design.
You can view the new design by appending ?useskin=vector to the end of the URL.
What you can expect:
There are some obvious changes in the areas of:
- Navigation
- Editing options
- Search – search bar will now be at the top right hand corner
- Wizard
Some of the obvious changes you will notice are:
- Tabs at the top of each page (editing options located on the far right)
- Reorganization of content on the left pane and change in design
- Editing formatting toolbar changes
- Search improvements
- List of languages on the left pane is no longer present
You should see these changes around May 13 5:00am UTC.
Don’t like the new design? Don’t worry – you can go back to viewing the older layout. Wikipedia also offers users to turn off the new features. This can be done by:
1. Create and Login to your Wikipedia Account
2. Click on the ‘New!’ link in the upper right corner of the page
3. Navigate to ‘Take Me Back’ section and click on the related link.
